Emergency sanitation in the wake of disasters

Description

Africa is vulnerable to a wide range of disasters and emergencies, some of which have forced largescale displacements.
Emergencies lead to the displacement of large number of people into provisional camps or communities either as internally displaced people (IDP) or refugees. Often, these temporary camps are overcrowded with rudimentary shelters.
In March 2019, a tropical cyclone, Idai, hit Beira city in central Mozambique. Over 3,000 km2 of land, including 700,000 hectares of farmland were flooded. This incident led to the dislocation of more than 400,000 inhabitants.
