Adélie Penguins, Antarctic Peninsula

Description

Common along the entire Antarctic coast, and can be seen diving head-first into the icy waters of the Antarctic. In the Ross Sea region of Antarctica, the penguins have been observed to travel an average of 13,000 kilometres during the year from their breeding to their winter foraging grounds. The Adélie Penguin’s population size is extremely large, numbering in the millions of individuals.
